Is Alcorn State really in the middle of nowhere? Be honest

I'm from Jackson. When I told people I was looking at Alcorn State, they laughed. "Lorman? Population 300? You'll lose your mind." I visited anyway. And okay. They're not wrong. Lorman is tiny. The closest Walmart is 30 minutes away. The closest city is 45 minutes. But here's the thing: I'm not going to college for the nightlife. I'm going for the band. Alcorn's band — "The Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite" — is legendary in HBCU circles. Not as famous as Southern or Jackson State, but serious. So here's my question: does location matter if the band is good? Or am I setting myself up for four years of boredom? Someone tell me the truth. 🎺
