1. The library is open late. I didn't know. I thought it closed at 5. A classmate told me it's open until 10. I go there after work now. It's quiet. There are computers. There's a guy at the desk who knows where everything is. I don't have a computer at home. The library is my office.

2. Advisors make mistakes. My advisor told me to take a class I didn't need. A friend told me to check with the transfer office. I did. The class was wrong. I switched. Saved myself a semester. Now I check everything twice. Three times.

3. The tutoring center is for everyone. I thought it was for people who were failing. I was passing. Barely. I went anyway. A tutor helped me outline my paper. She asked questions. I answered. She wrote things down. I took the outline home. I wrote the paper. I got a B. First B in college. I almost didn't go. I'm glad I did.

4. People will help if you ask. I was stuck on my English essay. I told the guy next to me in class. He said: “I'm stuck too. Let's be stuck together.” We met at the library. We read each other's drafts. We fixed each other's mistakes. We're not friends. We're something else. People who were stuck together.

I'm still here. That's something. 💡
